If you want to learn to play guitar, you can enroll in a class at your local music store. If you want to learn to ride, you take lessons at a stable. But what if you want to learn to write? You can take a community college course, attend a workshop, or join a webinar. These are good resources but may not be the best fit for your needs or schedule.
All types of writing share common elements such a grammar and syntax, but they also have specific qualities depending on factors such as your intended audience, form, or genre. Whether you are writing short or long fiction, personal essays, academic articles, a thesis/dissertation, or technical/scientific papers, I can help you improve your skills.
We can design your project, I will guide you as you write your draft, and then we will revise it. Each step of the way we will work on language mechanics such as grammar and sentence structure, and thematic issues specific to the type of writing you’re doing. The skills you learn will get you through your project and make the next one stronger, and hopefully, less daunting.
Testimonials
When I started grad school and hadn’t written anything academic in over a decade. Anne helped me not only find my own voice, but be confident in it. Throughout my time working with her I have watched my skills grow exponentially.

Writing was the section I scored highest in on my college entrance exams and something I had always dreamed of doing, but I never thought myself very good at. Hiring Anne to be my writing coach has not only enhanced my writing ability and scope but has quite literally transformed my perception of myself. Anne is a brilliant writer, a mentor, a skilled editor, and a life coach. She always adds to my work, and never detracts from it (even when that means that the writing, itself, needs simplification). I can count my best teachers on one hand, and Anne takes the top position by a landslide. Whatever your goal or genre is in writing, I give Anne my highest recommendation. My experience with her has been nothing short of life changing.
